As you develop your in class Nutcracker sequence you may want to explore new techniques which will be handy in your Poster Project. Masking Fluid can be used to maintain white areas, add details in textures, patterns and highlights. 
after the last coat of color, allow to dry completely before you remove masking fluid.

Sketchbook Field Studies - Spring Observations!!!

Get out and draw the signs of Spring!!!! Trees, scrubs, flowers, birds, bee's. And don't forget to BREATH!

Premix a variety of green watercolor washes. Use thin luminous layers of color mixed with water until it creates a wash.  Allow washes to dry between layers. 
 If you notice the color goes on too thick / opaque, use a paper towel or rag to dab away the excess pigment/water. 
Move paper as needed to not smudge your work while drying. Add pops of color and finishing touches.

Mixing skintones.... before^ and after  v
^Creating a color palette. Research Henry Darger and Marcel Dzama. How do the color palettes differ?... What are the commonalities between the artists styes?.. How are the artists backgrounds different?
Go back into old Figure in Context drawings. Add objects and atmosphere. Be creative but also do your research and draw observationally. Due by end of semester in Google Drive Folder labeled as Extra Credit.

layering color with wet on wet technique, picking up where we left off.

looking at what we were doing before Spring Break...ABOVE
setting up material and getting back to work
adding layers, wet on wet transitional colors, working the color from one end to the other using smooth strokes back and forth but not over working the paper. Alllow pigment to spread across wet paper and dry flat.
After drying for at least 2 hours, add  another color using wet on wet from the other direction for transitional color.
